about

Björn Stahmer is a dedicated photographer with a strong foundation in street photography, where he first recognized the profound impact of capturing candid moments and the essence of daily life. His artistic journey has been significantly influenced by esteemed mentors Siegfried Hansen and Michael Grieve, who have inspired him to explore the boundaries of his craft.

With a passion for experimentation, he engages in a variety of techniques, including digital, analogue, and darkroom photography, as well as innovative experimental methods that challenge conventional practices. He has a particular interest in the beauty of errors and imperfections, viewing them as integral elements that add character and depth to his work.

Moreover, Björn Stahmer sees photography as a vital form of social engagement, emphasizing the importance of meeting other photographers and being an active part of the community. He is involved in Project104, an initiative through which he explores various districts of Hamburg alongside fellow photographers, fostering collaboration and shared experiences.
